What is Waveguide to Coaxial Adapter?

In the field of radio frequency and microwave, in addition to the transmission of wireless signals, most of the scenarios still need to use transmission lines for signal transmission. Among them, coaxial cables and waveguides are widely used.

In order to be used in various occasions, these two transmission lines are sometimes connected to each other, which requires a waveguide to coaxial adapter (or Coaxial waveguide converter).

Waveguide to coaxial adapter is an indispensable passive converter in various radar systems, precision guidance systems and test equipment. It has the characteristics of wide frequency band, low insertion loss, and small VSWR.

The coaxial cables and the waveguides have relatively wide bandwidths for transmission, and the bandwidth after being connected depends on the adaptor, that is, on the matching of the characteristic impedance of the coaxial waveguide adaptor.

Waveguide to coaxial adapter is also commonly used in many microwave systems, such as antennas, transmitters, receivers, and carrier terminal devices etc.

The Waveguide to coaxial adapter is mainly composed of a first converter, a second converter and a flange, and the three elements are connected in sequence. Usually there are orthogonal 90° waveguide adaptors and terminated 180° waveguide adaptors.

At present, UIY can supply frequency bands from 320MHz to 112GHz. Tailor made services are also available upon request.

Take WR28 adaptor for example, it covers frequency range 26.5-40GHz, and suitable to be applied in satellite communication, radar, wireless communication, industrial microwave, microwave test and measurement system, medical microwave system, etc.
